The Piggott School

A Church of England Academy

Return to school January 2022

The government has, once again, asked secondary schools to set up onsite asymptomatic LFT testing centres. Testing is optional and consent forms will carry forward from the testing schedule in September 2021. If consent for your child has changed then please inform their Head of Year.

We will need volunteers to help with the LFT testing centre. If you can spare any time on 4th or 5th January, please do contact Mrs Preston at prestonc@piggottschool.org. We have been asked to conduct one onsite test with each student. For this testing schedule, we have been provided with nasal only (rather than nasal/throat swab) testing kits. We plan to test all year groups over two days, rather than three, as individual testing should take less time than previously.

Priority will be given to the older students who are preparing for their examinations. The testing days are given below and further details will be sent to you regarding timings.

Staff will set work for their classes on days when the students are not in school for onsite lessons. The nature of this will depend on the subject and year group, with some MS Teams lessons, work set on SMHW, as well as revision, reading, review and research-based tasks.

Years 11, 12 and 13 will return to onsite lessons on Wednesday 5th January. Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 will return to onsite lessons on Thursday 6th January 2022.
