The Piggott School

A Church of England Academy

Curriculum

The Secondary Curriculum

We offer a broad, rich and balanced curriculum throughout Key Stages 3 & 4, providing a wide degree of choice as the students move into GCSE/ level 2 and Post 16 options. The school fulfils all the requirements of the National Curriculum and beyond, catering for the needs of students of all abilities.

In Years 7 and 8 students follow a broad, common curriculum with a choice within Modern Foreign Languages. In Years 9, 10 and 11 students follow the core curriculum and then choose additional subjects retaining a broad balance in their curriculum, whilst allowing specialisation to occur when appropriate. The vast majority of students are entered for ten GCSE examinations including Religious Studies.

In Years 12 and 13 we offer both vocational and A-Level courses. A curriculum enrichment programme, including P.E., is followed. Standards are high and students are expected to be committed to their studies. Please visit our Sixth Form pages for course details.

Full details of the courses offered by the various departments are available using the right hand menu and by contacting the appropriate Head of Department.

Please visit this page in the coming weeks for more information about our Curriculum Vision, Aims and Intent for each subject.
