Catering

Harrison Catering Services is delighted to be providing catering at The Piggott School, bringing over 30 years of experience and a long-standing commitment to fresh, seasonal, and sustainably sourced food. All meals are prepared on site by passionate staff who take pride in offering nutritious, appealing options every day.
Harrison’s vision is to inspire students to explore new flavours and make healthier food choices. Their menus are designed with nutrition in mind and supported by the company’s Eat Well Live Well© training. Staff will also receive Smile-accredited customer service training and ongoing professional development to ensure a high-quality dining experience. In addition to daily service, Harrison will offer exciting food experiences such as themed days, pop-up events, and curriculum-linked activities.
With three decades of expertise, the company remains firmly committed to reducing its environmental impact through responsible sourcing, waste reduction, and recycling initiatives. Families can find out more through Harrison’s website or via the Geoffrey Harrison Foundation. Feedback is always welcome and can be shared with the on‑site Catering Manager to help ensure a positive experience for all students.
Menus and Canteen Information
You can find full details of the food available in the canteen below. These documents will help you plan and make informed choices about what your child may like to purchase.
Allergies
All allergen information is clearly displayed on product packaging. However, students with allergies or intolerances should always speak to a member of the catering team each day to confirm up‑to‑date allergen details, as substitute ingredients may occasionally be used. This daily check helps ensure the safety of all students.
Payments
If your child will be using the canteen, you should already have received instructions on how to set up their ParentPay account. ParentPay allows you to top up funds quickly and securely so your child can purchase food on site. If you haven’t yet received account details, please contact the Finance Team at finance@piggottschool.org, and they will be happy to help.
Students must bring their Tap & Go cards to school each day, as these are linked to their ParentPay accounts and are required for purchasing food. Bringing the card daily ensures smooth service and quick access to meals.
There is a default daily spending limit of £6 on each student’s account. This can be changed at any time by emailing the Finance Office, who will be happy to amend the limit for you.
If a student’s ParentPay balance is insufficient, they will automatically receive a loan equivalent to one main meal deal. Any further purchases will require the student to collect a red card, and parents will be contacted. To avoid interruptions, please ensure accounts are topped up regularly. You can also set up a free low‑balance email alert through ParentPay to help you stay informed.
The Sixth Form has its own dedicated café, which is open throughout the day exclusively for Sixth Form students. Payments can be made using ParentPay or by credit/debit card, offering flexibility and convenience.
Free School Meals
Your child may be eligible for Free School Meals, which provide valuable support and ensure access to a nutritious lunch each day. To check eligibility and apply, please visit:
www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals
If a student qualifies for free school meals, their daily allowance will be automatically added to their ParentPay account. They can then use it to purchase any of the meal‑deal choices. Please note that the allowance can be used for meal‑deals only and does not cover snacks.
