Surfers Against Sewage

We have introduced Surfers Against Sewage to The Piggott School. The Surfers Against Sewage Team are determined to make a difference in our local and school environment now!

Surfers Against Sewage cover a range of things but the one thing we do best is we campaign for a clean ocean, rivers and lakes for wildlife and people. But if we are going to achieve this goal, we need your help!

We are involved in a programme to equip young activists with the tools to create positive, lasting environmental change. To do that we are going to remove 3 types of plastic from the school site – we started in the canteen and managed to remove plastic cutlery and replace it with wooden cutlery.

We have still got lots of work to do like challenging the government, challenging the industry and many more things. We have already started reaching out to major producers of single-use plastics such as Walkers Crisps. We are soon going to also reach out to the government starting with our local MP, Theresa May.

We need your help to stop plastic. What can you do?

  1. Recycle – recycle plastic, paper, glass and food waste to help reduce waste and ocean pollution!

  2. Bring your own bottle – instead of buying plastic bottles whilst you are out, take your own re-usable bottle to reduce your plastic waste.

  3. Bring your own bag – instead of buying plastic bags whilst you are at the shops, take your own re-usable bag - it’ll save you money as well.

Thank you,

The Piggott SAS Team
