Welcome to our Careers Bulletin - your fortnightly round up of all careers related information post-Piggott with opportunities which we will collate for you to easily access as you focus on your future planning.

Summer internships

With summer break fast approaching lots of companies and organisations are recruiting for interns to gain experience and work over the summer period. 

Check out some recent adverts below. Spaces tend to go fast so make sure you apply by the deadline. If you need any help completing your applications please come to see Mrs van den Burghen or Miss Giacomet. 

 

Are you thinking of a career in illustration and graphic design, or written content and marketing?

If so Unifrog are offering students the opportunity to take part in a paid summer internship programme. 

With good rates of pay, this fantastic opportunity would look great on your CV if you're considering a career in one of these areas.

The Association of British Insurers are an Insurance, Risk, Investment & Asset Management company representing over 200 member companies, including most household names and specialist providers, giving peace of mind to customers across the UK.

They are looking for three people to join a 6-week paid internship in Summer 2022. You’ll start on or around 18th July. No prior work experience or knowledge of insurance is necessary – all you need is an interest in working with ABI and a desire to learn more about the insurance and long-terms savings industry.

A teaching internship gives you the opportunity to spend 3 weeks in a school and find out what teaching is really like. You’ll experience being in a classroom, gain new skills, and be paid £300 per week.

Teaching internships take place during June and July this year. Places fill up quickly.

Air Charter Service arranges aircraft charters for organisations including governments, large multinational corporations, royalty and international aid agencies. You’ll start your Summer Work Placement, with a senior broker assigned as your mentor learning on the job and first-hand what goes into ensuring a private jet charter goes off without a hitch.

Medicine & Dentistry Admissions Seminar - an invitation from an Oxford medical student

Previous Oxford student, Abdullah, is inviting students who are planning to apply to medicine or dentistry in the coming UCAS cycle to a free 2-hour seminar. Aimed for all applicants in general and not specifically to Oxford and for Year 12/13/gap year students who will be applying in the next UCAS cycle.

The seminar will cover the personal statements as well as the BMAT exam and the UCAT exam along with tips and advice with a question and answer session. It will be delivered online via Zoom on the following dates: 

Friday 29th April 17:00 – 19:00
Wednesday 4th May 17:00 – 19:00

London School of Economics - Taster Courses and Open Days

The University of London Taster Course programme provides Year 12 students with a taste of what life at a university in London is like. Taster courses are free to attend and you can choose from over 100 courses in a variety of subject areas at numerous participating universities.

In addition, the LSE are holding Open Days  for prospective undergraduate students. Open Days are an opportunity to visit LSE, find out more about the degree programmes and discover what it’s like to be a student at the School.

The next Undergraduate Open Day will be held on Thursday 7 July 2022.
