We follow the National Curriculum for Science and have sequenced our curriculum from Year 1 to Year 6 in a way which provides pupils with opportunities to expand knowledge, concepts and skills. There are also planned opportunities to retrieve, revisit and review prior learning in subsequent year groups as there are not enough Science objectives for each term.
To inspire scientific thinking in our children enabling them to make sense of the world around them and prepare them for the ever-changing world that we live.
At The Piggott School: Charvil Primary, we achieve this by:
- providing opportunities for all pupils to observe models and phenomena, make links and question scientific ideas and principles
- communicate their ideas effectively, and confidently using specialist scientific vocabulary
- be encouraged to take risks, experiment and make and learn from mistakes in a safe environment.
