More and Most Able

More and Most Able Intent:

At the Piggott School we identify More and Most Able students through processes linked to prior attainment at Key Stage 2, Cognitive Ability Tests, GCSE results and teacher identification. This enables the school to challenge, support and inspire the students within their curriculum and beyond.

 

Pedagogy and Research to inform best practice:

To ensure best practice when supporting and challenging More and Most Able students we use research and Pedagogy from several leading educational research hubs, Including:

To support More and Most Able students at the Piggott School there is a team which coordinates and leads activities, 1:1 student support, student workshops and training for staff at the Piggott.

Impact of More and Most Able Provision at the Piggott School:

We are incredibly proud of the achievements of our More and Most Able Students. From supporting students academically and as mentors, representing the school at national competitions for Sport, Computing, Business and Maths along with the academic outcomes achieved by the students. In  2023 the Key Stage 4 Progress 8 score for More and Most Able students was +0.36, significantly above national average and % A*/A grades achieved at A-level was 60.5%.
